Home Worship - June 28, 2020

Worship videos available the night before at 7pm

This week is week 2 of 2 where Pastor Michael sits down with his close friends Chaz Foster and James Sievers to have a discussion about the current state of our city and our nation. In this week's conversation, they take time to address some of these issues but also get at the root of the issue in our heart. They talk about the phrase "Black Lives Matter" and the importance of where we find out identity. Most importantly, they address the church's role in this and what it means to love your neighbor as yourself.

This week's home worship video will not have a dedicated time of prayer but
4 discussion questions and 4 prayer points that can be found below. Make sure to take time to read over and pray over all these points.

Also, make sure you watch till the end to catch the announcements for a couple of ways we want to challenge you to continue faithfully in your walk with the Lord!

If you or your family would like some songs to worship to and sing along with, we have created a playlist with youtube links to lyric videos:

  1. Your Grace is Enough

  2. My Lighthouse

  3. Death was Arrested

  4. 10,000 Reasons

Suggested Questions for discussion:

  1. What parts of today's conversation encouraged you the most today? Why?

  2. In what ways were you most challenged by the conversation between Michael, James, and Chaz? What do you plan to about these convictions?

  3. Why is important to find your identity in our relationship with the Lord and not our politics or culture? Why is this often so difficult?

  4. What are some practical steps that you plan to take moving forward?

Prayer Points:

  1. Pray that Christians from all walks of life from across this city and across this nation would rally together in unity to be the hands, feet, and mouthpiece of God during this difficult season.

  2. Pray that as we press into the work of doing justice, that we will also be people who love kindness and walk humbly with God.

  3. Pray that as Christians, we will live by the example of Jesus to love others unconditionally and serve them as He served others.

  4. Pray that our churches and the churches across the nation will be faithful to press into the work of justice and standing up for the oppressed and marginalized.

Jesus Storybook Bible read by Ms. Savannah

"How to Pray" on p. 222

For family time, continue to go over John 14:6, Psalm 136:1, and Colossians 3:20. This week, we will begin working on memorizing Proverbs 3:5 which says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."

To learn more about this story, read Matthew 6.
