What to expect at Bridge Community Church

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

‚Äč

Do you have questions about what you can expect from Bridge Community Church? We have tried to answer some of the questions that we hear most often. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to email us at info@bridgecommunitynyc.com.

What kind of church are you? (What is your denomination?)

Our church community is made up of a melting pot of various churches backgrounds and denominations. We are joined by one common denominator – Jesus is the reason we have life and is worthy of our allegiance and devotion. However, we voluntarily join with like-minded churches through our partnership and involvement with the Send Network of the North American Mission Board. As for our beliefs, we have a whole page explaining exactly what we, as a church, believe.

What is a Community Group and why are they important?

A Community Group is a group of people who spend time together whether it be sharing a meal, sharing a common hobby or activity, or just hanging out in general. There is also a time where the group studies the Bible together.

Community Groups are foundational to what we do as a church. We believe authentic community is essential to grow as followers of Christ because it is a place where we can be encouraged, challenged, loved, and held accountable to grow in areas where we struggle. We hope that you will check out one of our Community Groups and discover the joy of authentic community.

How should I dress for Community Groups or Sunday Worship?

If you’re asking this question–you’re not alone! It’s a common question many people have and we’re more than happy to answer it. So what should you wear to our church? Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. If you feel comfortable in jeans, wear jeans. If you like dressing up, then by all means do so. Some dress casual, others like to dress up so wear what you feel best in.

How did you come up with the name Bridge Community Church?

As we looked at the changing neighborhood around Queensboro Plaza and Queensbridge, we quickly recognized that there were people from all walks of life. There are wealthy business men and women sharing the sidewalk with the homeless and the young professional in the high rise apartment living blocks from families in the housing projects of Queensbridge. There are people of all ages, colors, and nationalities. There is also a divide between the people from all these different walks of life. We desire to Bridge the Community and Connect People. We know that this is possible through truly following Jesus which leads to a community where all people are equal.

Why are you already focusing on other neighborhoods to start churches?

We believe that if we truly want to impact Queens and New York City as a whole, it will take an army of churches. This means that we always need to be working towards starting multiple churches. In addition to planting churches throughout Queens and NYC, our long term goal is to see people strategically going to the ends of the earth where the story and hope of Jesus Christ is not known. To learn more about our mission and goals, check out one of our Starting Point Classes that take place once every two months.

I want to be more involved in what you are doing? What can I do?

The best way to be involved will always be in our Community Groups. We also need help when we do different events to serve our community. Once we start meeting regularly on Sunday, there will be other opportunities to serve such as set up and tear down, working with kids through Bridge Kids, and helping lead worship in various ways. If you would like to help in some way, please email info@bridgecommunitynyc.com and express the ways you would like to help.
